Freight Development Committee Meeting

The St. Louis Regional Freightway’s 2017 Multimodal Transportation Project List is helping coordinate infrastructure investment priorities with elected officials and supply chain leaders, and is garnering national awareness of the region’s freight network. The list was prepared by the Freight Development & Needs Analysis Committee, which is chaired by Mike McCarthy, President of the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (TRRA). The Committee consists of members from the six Class I railroads; the trucking, barge, and airport industries; industrial real estate brokers and developers, and manufacturing and logistics industry representatives. Project selection is based on economic and multimodal impact, freight reliability and efficiency of the freight network, and safety and security in travel.

Highest priority projects include the following:

  • The Merchants Rail Bridge Replacement over the Mississippi River (MO-IL)
  • I-270 Improvements from Lindbergh Boulevard to IL Route 111 (MO-IL)
  • North Riverfront Commerce Corridor Improvement (MO)
  • Illinois Route 3 Access Improvements in East St. Louis and Sauget (IL)
