A Chicago-area global industrial manufacturer, distributor and service provider has opened its first warehouse in St. Louis where the company will roll out its new line of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Optimas Solutions will use the 30,400-square-foot facility it is leasing at 2039 Innerbelt Business Center in Overland to handle its U.S. distribution of PPE products, like face masks, sanitizers, cleaning products and more, as well as maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) products, such as packaging materials, janitorial supplies, and cutting, repair and hand tools.

Optimas CEO Marc Strandquist said the company liked St. Louis’ location in the center of the country, as well as it being a “good cost basis” for the company to expand. The Glenview, Illinois-based company specializes in fasteners and supply chain solutions, which helped bring in nearly $865 million in revenue last year. Optimas employs 1,318 people and has 41 offices around the world.

The company’s Overland warehouse will be staffed initially with two full-time employees, and will likely grow as its operations here increase. It did not receive any economic incentives to open in St. Louis County, a company spokesman said.
