Boeing Secures $75M Contract Building Long-Range Guidance Kits

Last week, the United States Air Force awarded Boeing a $75 million contract to build long-range bomb delivery kits at its St. Charles facility. It is a delivery kit allowing greater precision on unguided bombs. With the additional PDU, the new JDAM LR can deliver a 500-pound bomb at greater distances, extending the weapon’s overall range by more than 300 nautical miles.

“This new capability allows pilots to engage targets from significantly safer distances, maintaining a tactical advantage in contested environments,” Capt. Sarah Abbott, Precision Strike Weapons (PMA-201) program manager, said in a U.S. Navy press release.
