The need for players in the transportation, development, and construction space to advocate and collaborate for key infrastructure projects was driven home at a presentation at Bi-State Development’s offices Downtown on Wednesday. At the event the 2026 Priority Project List, compiled for the bi-state St. Louis region by the St. Louis Regional Freightway, was released. The list includes 29 projects totaling nearly $8.9 billion.

Tom Blair, MODOT St. Louis District engineer, noted that — in addition to the $2.8B allocated for I-70 improvements, MODOT also has $600M allocated for I-44 improvements. But, he said, only $20M of the I-44 spend falls within the St. Louis Region. He urged support of more I-44 improvements here.
