The Missouri Department of Transportation is currently accepting applications for its FY2023 Freight Enhancement (FRE) program through June 3, 2022.

MoDOT’s Freight Enhancement Program is focused on improving and maintaining the high priority freight assets and corridors that are critical to the movement of freight through Missouri. This program is based on partnerships with freight stakeholders and public officials to identify the greatest freight movement needs and remove barriers to efficient movement of goods through capital improvements to the system.  Since FY2014, 23 projects totaling over $7.3 million have been funded through the program.

This program is open to public, private and not-for-profit entities. Funds must be used for transportation purposes other than roads, and are limited to capital projects. Operating costs are not eligible.

A minimum of 20% of the project’s cost must come from sources other than FRE funding. A total of $3,250,000 is anticipated to be available for this program, and the maximum available for any one project is $1,000,000.
