The St. Louis Regional Freightway is pleased to release the St. Louis County Manufacturing and Logistics Industry Overview, which was developed in collaboration with the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. St. Louis County, Missouri, sits in the central part of the St. Louis region, surrounded by the City of St. Louis and the Mississippi River to the east, the Missouri River to the north, and the Meramec River to the south. It is the most populous county in the St. Louis metropolitan region, with more than 1 million residents. St. Louis County accounts for nearly half of the metropolitan area’s jobs and a quarter of all jobs in Missouri, making it the economic engine of the state. The county’s top industries by GDP include trade and transportation, manufacturing, information, and financial activities.
We previously shared the profiles for Monroe County in Illinois, and Jefferson County and St. Charles County in Missouri. We look forward to sharing the companion pieces for the City of St. Louis and Franklin County in Missouri and Madison and St. Clair County, Illinois.
The purpose of the profiles is to highlight key infrastructure investment and significant available development sites in each county and provide a closer look at why it should be on the radar screen, particularly for those in the manufacturing, logistics and distribution sectors who may be seeking a business site location and/or a community where their employees may want to live.
