Boeing has unveiled an unmanned electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing air cargo drone which the company will use for testing and developing its autonomous flight technology in future aircraft.

Led by Boeing’s HorizonX, the jet maker’s St. Louis-based innovation arm, teams of engineers and technicians across the company designed and built the new prototype in less than three months.

The prototype aircraft is designed to transport a payload up to 500 pounds for possible cargo and logistics uses, a move that could put Boeing in direct competition with Amazon’s plans for drone package delivery…”
