FreightWeek STL 2019 – Invitation to Participate

FreightWeek STL 2019 – Invitation to Participate
November 9, 2018 Jerry Vallely

In May 2018, the St. Louis Regional Freightway co-hosted the inaugural FreightWeek STL with the Inland Marine Expo and the Institute for Trade and Transportation Studies, and in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This four-day conference brought together more than 2,000 freight and transportation experts and exhibitors from around the country to share ideas and collaborate on how to address the nation’s growing freight industry, as well as spotlight the St. Louis region’s world-class multimodal freight network.

To build on this success, planning is underway for FreightWeekSTL 2019 — to be held May 20-23, 2019 — and we need your assistance to make this event even bigger! Please consider planning an individual event or coordinating an event directly with FreightWeek STL at America’s Center in downtown St. Louis. Some ideas may include a conference, meeting, tour, discussion or other event that same week, focused on freight, manufacturing, logistics, workforce, innovation or infrastructure.

Our goal is to highlight the region’s and nation’s roles as they relate to global competitiveness, innovation and workforce in the freight industry. These efforts will help tell the bi-state area’s story, create new ambassadors to promote our successes, generate positive media attention, and continue to raise our profile as a world-class freight hub.

Decision-makers are taking notice of our region and this event. FreightWeek STL 2018 and many of the individual sessions garnered extensive local and national media coverage, reaching global shippers and carriers, and spotlighting our region’s innovation and competitiveness as an American and global freight leader centered in the middle of America.

To cap off FreightWeek STL, we hosted our third annual Freight Summit Luncheon which was attended by more than 350 industry leaders. The luncheon included the release of the 2019 Freightway Multimodal Transportation Priorities list, and a special presentation about Container on Vessel shipping, a potential new option to transport freight along the Mississippi River. Shortly after FreightWeek STL, more than $400 million of infrastructure project funding was announced for some of the Freightway’s top priority projects in our region.
